“It’s about maintaining my energy throughout the season. I’m not getting any younger,” he shared with The Independent.
“I have sacrificed a lot for my career, and now I want to dedicate some time to my family instead of always being halfway. Plus, I’m getting married this year and have a wedding to plan!
“I also want to experience watching a race. Maybe I’ll gain a new perspective without the responsibility of commentating.
“When I’m just a viewer, I notice different things – I want to see the races the way the fans do.”
Croft has been succeeded by Harry Benjamin, known for his work with BBC Radio 5 Live’s F1 coverage and his commentary on Formula 2 and Formula 3.
Benjamin expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I’m very excited. These are big shoes to fill, but I’m ready for the challenge.
“What a venue to start at Imola, alongside Karun. It’s an honor.”
