Jahmyr Gibbs Injury: the Detroit Lions running back, hurt his hamstring during Monday night’s practice, according to a source who spoke to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Gibbs had to leave the practice early due to a leg injury, but it’s not clear how or when it happened.
Gibbs, who is 22 years old, had an impressive first year in the NFL. He rushed for 945 yards and scored 10 touchdowns, and also added 316 receiving yards and another touchdown. He was instrumental in getting the Lions to the NFC Championship Game and was even named a finalist for the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Earlier this month, Gibbs shared with ESPN his goal of becoming the fourth player in NFL history to achieve both 1,000 yards receiving and 1,000 yards rushing in a single season. He hopes to join players like Christian McCaffrey, Marshall Faulk, and Roger Craig who have done it before.
In the same practice, Detroit’s rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold also had to leave early due to an upper-body injury, and another rookie cornerback, Ennis Rakestraw Jr., was checked for an ankle injury.
