Kevin Young is serious about making BYU a top spot for college basketball players who want to go to the NBA.
Russian basketball star Egor Demin has decided to join Young’s BYU team, as reported by ESPN’s NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski on Tuesday.
Demin currently plays for Real Madrid in Europe and is considered one of the best young international players. At 18 years old, he has averaged 12.9 points and 5.1 rebounds over 21 games this season.
In his last game, Demin scored 26 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, made six assists, three steals, and two blocks, leading Real Madrid to win the U18 Adidas Next Generation Tournament.
Demin, who is 6-foot-9, is expected to be the No. 9 pick in the 2025 NBA draft, according to ESPN’s latest mock draft.
Robby McCombs of Vanquish the Foe said that Demin’s commitment is one of the biggest in BYU’s history. It shows that Young is dedicated to creating a path to the NBA at BYU and that BYU has the financial resources to attract top players.
