Christian Yelich, the star outfielder for the Milwaukee Brewers, has been sidelined with a back injury and is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s game. Yelich was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to April 13th with a lower back strain.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy stated that Yelich’s recovery has “stalled” and that he has resumed swinging, but there is no timetable for his return to the active roste. The team remains optimistic that the medication Yelich is taking could help him progress.
Yelich has dealt with back issues throughout his career, and this latest setback is extremely concerning. The Brewers are hoping he can make a swift recovery, but it seems likely he won’t return until early-to-mid May at this point.
In Yelich’s absence, Sal Frelick has shifted to left field while Blake Perkins starts in center field.
