Bryce Harper couldn’t play in the Phillies’ game against the Mets on Tuesday because he had a bad headache. Alec Bohm, who usually plays third base, played first base instead of him. Whit Merrifield played third base instead. Bryson Stott, who usually bats fifth, batted third in Harper’s place.
Before this, Harper had been doing well, hitting .259 with nine home runs and 29 RBIs. But he wasn’t feeling well and couldn’t play. The Phillies were also missing Trea Turner and J.T. Realmuto. Turner hurt his leg, and Realmuto had a sore knee.
Even with these players missing, the Phillies had the best record in the major leagues: they won 29 games and lost 13.
