Today, the Dallas Mavericks start their series against the Oklahoma City Thunder away from home. The Thunder are tough opponents because they’re the best team in the Western Conference and have one of the NBA’s top players, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. But the Mavericks are playing really well too, especially after their impressive win against the LA Clippers.
In the last game against the Clippers, Kyrie Irving played amazingly in the second half and helped the Mavericks win. They’re feeling confident and ready to try to beat the Thunder.
Luka Doncic, who’s usually amazing, hasn’t been playing his best lately, partly because of a knee problem. But he’s had some time to rest before facing the Thunder, which hopefully helped him recover.
However, the Thunder are confident they can stop Doncic. Their coach, Mark Daigneault, said they’ll rely on Lu Dort to defend him. But Doncic has done well against Dort in the past, scoring points and making assists.
Dort is a great defender, but nobody can completely stop Doncic. He’ll find ways to score no matter what.
Daigneault seems really sure about his plan to guard Doncic, but Doncic might prove him wrong during the series.
